Hold Fast was a chill spot in the middle of the bustling neighborhood with a great vibe inside and super-friendly servers who made our night as we grabbed a quick bite before a show. You can tell this spot has a bunch of regulars as the crew was chatting amongst people as they were taking orders and making drinks. That laid-back friendly atmosphere feels great amongst the hustle of the busy city. For drinks, we tried the seasonal pumpkin espresso martini which was pure perfection. Not too strong in pumpkin or overpowering with espresso, it was a perfect fall blend with a shot of energy to start the evening. We started with the fried burrata, which was exactly as expected, I'm not sure I'm into fried burrata, nothing wrong with it, but it didn't have the same punch as a 'normal' burrata appetizer or of fried mozzarella. Try it - because it's different - but know it might leave you hanging. The salad that came with the burrata had a next level dressing, not sure what it was, but wow. The tacos were lovely, between our group we tried all of them. Not sure there was a clear winner because they were all good - I think, though, the tuna was stellar.
Hold Fast has become one of my go-to local bars. They have great bites - better than you'd expect from a place that is mostly a bar. The wings are good, the kale salad is surprisingly good. The drinks are inventive and fun, and I really like that they have a good selection of non-IPA beers. Highly recommended.
A divey little spot on Restaurant Row. Daughter and I dined here after seeing The Wiz and Hold Fast did not disappoint. The service was above par-our server was attentive and gracious. I had tacos and daughter had the steak frites. Both were flavorful and prepared to perfection. I would definitely recommend, especially if you want good food and service and not concerned with an Instagram "studio".
Hold Fast is a brunch oasis amidst the tourist-heavy Theater District and welcome respite from the slow-walking, up-gazing masses. The vibes are chill, the service is next level friendly, and the food is good and decently priced. It also boasts an excellent draught beer selection and helpful bartenders to guide you. Plus the brunch drink specials are sneaky good ($8 Blood Mary's? In the year of our Lord 2024? Incredible). For food, HF has all the classic bar offerings. My pick is the hot wings. They come in a great (and criminally underrated) Alabama hot sauce.
We've been here quite a few times before heading to a show. Foods always delicious and drinks are always on point. If you aren't looking for a fancy place or the usual oversized Italian plates, stop here for a quality bite to eat. I like your day this is the local spot before a show.
Step into this hidden gem of a bar, and you're in for an absolute treat! From the lively welcome to the determined staff finding you a seat amid the buzzing crowd, the energy is contagious. Even before you settle in, a friendly greeting and a refreshing offer of water set the stage for a memorable experience! Now, let's talk about the drinks - the Oakey Smokey is like a party in your mouth! Phenomenal smokiness and downright delicious. The non-alcoholic 75-75? A flavor explosion that deserves a round of applause. Kudos to the bar for nailing the drink game - it's nothing short of amazing! On to the eats, where the cheese dip takes center stage. Great, but a dash of spiciness or a tweak in ingredients could elevate it to another level. The chips? A bit on the crispy side, but fear not - they're like sturdy soldiers standing tall even in the face of hot cheese. And oh, the guacamole at the neighboring table? Pure divine temptation! Now, brace yourself for the steak frites extravaganza! Juicy steak, a mountain of fries, and those roasted tomatoes - an absolute wow! The food prices? Totally reasonable. Would I order it all again? Absolutely, without a second thought! The ambiance is off the charts - a magnetic atmosphere, lightning-fast service, and an overall friendliness that makes you feel like you've found your second home. Even at the smallest "table," the stellar service compensates for any space constraints. This is THE place to go, savor, and enjoy every delightful moment. Huge kudos to the fantastic staff for creating an experience that I absolutely loved! Cheers to the gem of the town!
Quick meet and eat with Lisa E. and our lovely daughter Mele before a show. Second time here bit first indoors. Nice NY bar feel with a more than decent cocktail list. My classic negroni was indeed as described, classic in every sense. The duck confit carnitas was a delight to eat! Two crispy skinned legs plated with everything needed to make mexican style peking duck. Appetizer portion was more than enough for a meal. I could see their chipotle hoisin sauce becoming the latest sriracha craze.
Decided to grab dinner and drinks with a friend at Hold Fast Kitchen and was not disappointed. When I walked in, it was decently crowded so the only option was at the bar or outside. We decided to eat outside even though it was very cold outside. The staff turned on heat lamps for us and honestly it was perfect. We ordered drinks the beer cheese dip appetizer and two dishes. My friend is vegetarian and there were many options for her including a cauliflower "steak" which is what she ordered. The staff was super friendly and the service was great in general.
Really enjoyed our time here. Good atmosphere. Recommend the fries with white sauce. Not far from Broadway/Times Square but good bar with decent prices that won't break the bank just a stone's throw away. Really enjoyed the espresso martini and food service was quick.
Wow. I was not expecting this small bar to pack on such a punch of flavor. Most bars aren't really known for their food. When I stumbled inside this dimly lit (mostly) empty bar, I expected to see a modest menu of the usual bar snacks l. While they did have some many traditional favorite likes wings and burgers, they also had more interesting options like fried burrata, which I tried and was DELICIOUS. They also have a sizeable brunch menu. I ordered a couple of appetizers and was able to Make a meal of it. The fried burrata comes with a side salad and crispy bread. The burrata is so nice and gooey when you cut into it yet crunchy on the outside. The cheese tasted fresh and the tomato based sauce had a nice taste. I also had fry rub wings. The wings platter came with 5 wings and carrot sticks. They were also really good. Together with the fried burrata and salad, this made a great dinner. The bartender was also very attentive. Even though I sat at the bar, I received quick service. I would definitely return and recommend if you're in the area.
